Omeruo: "I'm happy with where I am now, I'm happy I got this deal."

Kenneth Omeruo has had a troubled summer. Linked heavily with a move to Besiktas, the transfer broke down and he was loaned to Turkish side Alanyaspor on a season loan, not before extending his Chelsea contract by one more year.

"We had limited time to decide and most of the clubs that came initially due to the fact that I wanted this Besiktas deal to happen, we didn't really consider them but then life goes on and I'm happy with where I am now, I'm happy I got this deal," he told Brila Fm.

"The coach and everyone in my new club assured me how important I am to the team and it's important to play where you are appreciated, and the important thing for me is to play a lot of games and stay fit and then next season make the best decision for my career and my fans as well," he concluded.

According to BBC reporter Oluwashina Okeleji, Chelsea were keen to extend Omeruo's contract by a year because they did not want to lose him on a free transfer when his contract expires.
