Mario Pašalić joins AC Milan on loan
Mario Pašalić has today [Saturday] officially joined Serie A giants AC Milan on a season long loan.
Pašalić, who spent last season on loan at Monaco in Ligue 1, will now test his talents in Italy with one of the best clubs in the world.
"I feel great. It is a great emotion and I am very happy and proud to be part of one of the biggest clubs in Europe," said Pašalić.
"Kaka is one of the greatest players in the world so I stopped in front of his memorabilia cuz I still remember the pitch with Milan. My characteristics? They are a classic number 8. I like to play in all midfield positions, for me there are no problems.
"I know a lot of players who play in the Italian league. My fellow Under-21 have told me that is a very tactical football. I have not chosen my jersey number let's see what we will be free. I will do my best for Milan and that I hope will be a fun season. Go Milan!"
It wasn't a secret Milan would be securing the young Croatian on loan, after Italian media got wind of the deal a week or two ago.
New Milan manager Vincenzo Montella has given us an insight into what role Pašalić plays in his side and it's not a positive one.
"Pasalic can become a great player. He has never played as defensive midfielder but we can work on it," said Montella. "Until today he has always played in a midfield two. Let's see which position he can take with us."
Pašalić is an old school number 8. Frank Lampard comes to mind when you watch the 21-year old. Box-to-box midfielder who has a talent of arriving late in the box, so for Montella to want to turn him into a defensive player worries me. In any case, we wish Mario all the best in Italy.
