Chelsea offer Kenneth Omeruo new contract
According to AfricanFootball, Kenneth Omeruo has extended his contract at Premier League club Chelsea by a year.
It was expected Omeruo would go out on loan to Turkish Championships Besiktas for a season, then they would sign the Nigerian centre back permanently. The delay in completing the deal led to Kenneth missing out of the Olympics games with Nigeria.
However, Omeruo's adviser Conleth Chika Akujobi has confirmed Chelsea have offered their player a 1-years contract extension.
"Chelsea have proposed that Kenneth’s contract be extended by a year, it will now run till 2019," he said.
This throws months of work Besiktas have done trying to secure Omeruo. It now seems Chelsea were not able to agree a deal where the Turkish club would sign him after a years loan. He could still go out on loan, but he will return a Chelsea player and remain one. Until 2019.
