The reason why Kenneth Omeruo's loan move has been delayed

For weeks, Kenneth Omeruo has been waiting to become a Besiktas player. Reports indicated that Chelsea agreed to send him out on loan to the Turkish Champions and that after the years loan, Besiktas would buy him outright.

It has now emerged that the reason for a delay in confirmation is that both clubs are yet to agree on an outright sale of the player, according to an exclusive from AfricanFootball.

"Besiktas still want the player, but what is holding back the deal is that Chelsea want to ensure that after the season-long loan, the Turkish club will buy him on a permanent basis," said a source. "Several clubs including Celta Vigo in Spain and even Kasimpasa, where Kenneth played last season, want him on loan, but Chelsea now want to recoup their investment on the player by selling him after another season-long loan spell."

It had been made public that Celta Vigo in La Liga failed in their late loan bid for Omeruo last week, which all but confirmed Chelsea's intention to loan him to Besiktas. Omeruo has also sent a few hints, following the official Besiktas instagram account.

The delay in agreement has dented Omeruo's international career. He was due to fly out with the Nigerian squad to compete in the Olympics games in Rio, but due to his future being in the balance the Nigerian squad coach decided to leave the 22-year old out.
