Kalas: "If I could get the deal (to move to Boro permanently) I would really think about it. Ye

Tomas Kalas is open to departing Chelsea for good if Middlesbrough were to offer him a contract.

"I don’t know how many games I’ve played since I came, probably around 40, which is not bad in one and a half years," Kalas said.

"That’s why I came here, to play games, and hopefully I’ll keep playing next season - maybe here. If I could get the deal (to move to Boro permanently) I would really think about it. Yes, why not!"

On 7 July 2010, Kalas signed for Chelsea for a reported figure of around £5.2 million. As part of the deal, Kalas would remain at Sigma Olomouc for the 2010–11 season. He then spent two successful seasons at Vitesse where he played a total of 76 games.

He returned to Chelsea under then manager Jose Mourinho, but only featured for 4 games. Kalas was loaned out once again. This time to Bundesliga side FC Köln. The disastrous loan ended 6 months early and Kalas was sent to Middlesbrough where he made 17 appearances, mostly at right back. Middlesbrough retained Kalas on a season long loan and he has since made another 30 appearances for the club.

Kalas signed a three-year deal at Chelsea in 2015, therefore keeping him at the club until 2018. With 2 years running on his contract, Middlebrough could lure the versatile defender away from the Bridge, who are now a Premier League side after winning promotion.

When asked about winning promotion. "It’s difficult to describe," he said.

"After this ending (of achieving promotion), everything is brilliant. It’s difficult to put into words under these emotions. It’s been a successful year. We’ve started from nothing and built the team, and I’m just happy to be part of it.

"It was unbelievable to see the fans against Brighton. I don’t think you have to say anything - even just in the warm-up it was amazing. We were saying ‘are we playing in Wembley or the Riverside?’."
