Hiddink gives his assessment of Michael Hector
Michael Hector returned early to Stamford Bridge at the end of last month, along with fellow loanee Lucas Piazon, from his loan at Reading and Hiddink has given his assessment of the defender.
"He returned from Reading with Lucas Piazon, he’s been participating well," Chelsea's interim boss said. "For me, it was new to see him live and I spoke briefly to him."
"The speed of action has increased for him and he had to adapt a bit in the first session, but he’s a quick learner. He has to adapt to the pace of the game and the pace of training but it’s a matter of time."
Chelsea signed the versatile defender in a surprise deal from Reading last summer before sending him back to Reading on loan.
The London Evening Standard reports that Chelsea’s technical director Emenalo rates the 23-year-old very highly, as he can play in numerous positions including central defence, full-back and defensive midfield.
Instead of slotting the defender into the Chelsea squad, Emenalo thought it was best to loan Hector back to Reading where he could continue his development. Hector has nine caps for Jamaica & made 35 appearances for Reading this season.
