Alex Davey: "The transition has been a lot easier than I thought it would be."

Alex Davey started his third game for Stabaek, as they recorded their first win of the season and he explains how he's happy with his decision to switch to Swedish football.

"It took a little while to get the move to happen but once I’d done some research I was happy. The transition has been a lot easier than I thought it would be.," said Davey to whtimes.

"Everyone speaks really good English and everyone helps you out. The club has lots of ambition and a good squad so it’s a nice place to be."

His first game saw him up against former blues Eider GudJohnson, now 37 years of age, who currently plays for Molde.

"He was as intelligent as he always has been. He picked his spaces really well so he was a difficult player to mark. He knew what he wanted to get out of himself so when he wanted to go, it was difficult to keep with him. I didn’t think I’d get to play against someone like him in my first game."

Strangely, Davey is being used as a holding midfielder for Stabaek, whereas he learnt his trade as a centre back. Speaking about the atmosphere in his first game, Davey had nothing being positives to say.

"Just as you’re about to come out of the tunnel, the fans started setting off fireworks and flares. It was a great atmosphere.

"Compared to my League One debut, that one, atmosphere-wise, was completely different. League One was a real buzz but this one you had to pinch yourself a little bit.

"It was a little bit scary when you’re in the moment."
