ASPTT Marseille recall the first time they saw Jeremie Boga.
BeinSports recently did a piece on Jeremie Boga and they revisited his old club ASPTT Marseille to discuss the young Frenchman's early day's.
Jean-Francois Verlaque (President of ASPTT Marseille): "The first time he came here, he was only this height, he beat eight players and then put the ball in the net. He did the back-flip celebration that Djibril Cissé did at the time whenver he scored. He was only five years old when he did that."
Robert Caturegli (Former ASPTT Marseille President): "In my opinion, he was a unique player, there wasn't anything he didn't know how to do. He was exceptional for his age."
Boga spent 6 years at ASPTT before accepting an offer from Chelsea to sign for them. Now on loan back in France with Rennes, his ability and quality are never forgotten at his local club.
Franck Borelli (ASPTT Marseille Sporting Director): "He was phenomenal. He was able to make a different, even when he was playing completely on his own. He was the stand out player of his generation. In 1997 category, I haven't seen a better player than him."
Alex Cupano (Former teammate of Boga): "It was in the semi-final of the Provence Regional Championship - he won the ball back, he picked it up in midfield and he made his way to goal without anybody stopping him before he scored. He then ripped his shirt to pieces because of the emotion. To do at the twelve-years-old, you've got to take your hat off to him."
"He was a cut above, both in terms of his technical ability and his physical capabilities." another employee said. "I would say that he knew how to do things that nobody else knew how to do."
Thank you to @IsMiseBrendan for his translation of Jeremie Boga's interview with Bein Sports.
