The Mirror reported yesterday that Watford want to sign Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake on a permanent basis. The Dutchman has enjoyed an excellent season with Watford and has 23 appearances in all competitions this season. He quickly cemented his place in Watford's starting 11 and now manager Quique Sanchez hopes to sign Ake full-time or to bring him back for another loan next season, if he fails.
Ake signed a new long-term deal at Chelsea before off heading to Watford last summer. He has since proved Chelsea wrong for loaning him. Chelsea signed promising left back Baba Rahman, but he found it difficult to secure a starting place ahead of Azpilicueta and right winger Kenedy.
"It's tasty yes," said the defender, about his season at Watford. "I play a lot and I really feel that I am developing good this year. First, this season once again finish in a good way and we'll see it again how, in the summer is all about. Of course I want to return to Chelsea, but it is my age important that I get a lot of playing time."
