Christensen: "No matter what happens, I will be super-happy."
Talent of the Year in Danish football is... Andreas Christensen from Borussia Monchengladbach!
Earlier today, Andreas Christensen won Danish football talent of the year ahead of Brondbys Riza Durmisi, Pione Sisto from FC Midtjylland and Yussuf Poulsen from RB Leipzig. After he was announced as the winner, Andreas took to the stage.
"I am extremely honored and really grateful. I just want to say thanks to old teammates and my old staff. And of course the main routes of all my family," said young 'AC'.
Later, Andreas sat down to talk to BT about his future beyond next season and the rumours about Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
"When we made this deal, I wrote during five years with Chelsea, which two years should be out on loan. So it is really at Gladbach. If Chelsea want me back, I think that it is Gladbach who decides. I was happy at Chelsea and I am happy to be in Gladbach too, so for me it's win / win. No matter what happens, I will be super-happy."
Regarding the interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich, he was quick to distance himself.
"That I am not thinking so much about. For you never know. What is being written, can be something that has never had anything on him. I have many friends who have been the Barcelona fans and Bayern Munich fans for a very long time. One entire part of my family is really big Bayern Munich fans. So when they are mentioned, they find that it is very funny. But for me it does not mean as much.
"It is not something I have to make a decision right now [return to Chelsea or stay at Gladbach]. As it is right now, I have the entire next season in Gladbach too. So the choice - if there is a choice - first taken there. So I have no choice to think about right now. I can just concentrate on football, " says Christensen.
"I have contact with our 'loan department', as they call it. Here I get a lot of feedback. It's all about the games, but I also get a lot of both clubs. It helps a great deal. We do not focus on one thing. Chelsea sends me clips from the fighting, and if I have made the same mistake a couple of times, highlights it and says I must focus on that."
