Chelsea might actually have some sense... They want to recall Christensen!
According to the Mirror, Chelsea want to bring Andreas Christensen back and have him amongst the first team for next season. This will be music to the ears of those who follow Christensen's progress in Germany/Europe (Champions League) and a welcomed surprise, as Chelsea have often been fond of loaning out quality players and signing less talented products to replace them.
Christensen has been on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach since the start of the season and has excelled ever since. He has a total of 31 games across all competitions, including 5 Champions League games against the likes of Juventus & Man City, and 2 goals to his name. All starts.
Chelsea's plans will come as a disappointment for Monchengladbach who hoped to steal Christensen permanently at the end of the season. They have recently been very public (disrespectful) in their wish to sign the Danish international (here, here & here).
There has been confusion over whether Christensen is on a 1-year-loan or 2. Gladbach have been publicly stating that it is a 2-year-loan deal and that Chelsea cannot recall him. However, Chelsea website has it down as a 1-year-deal and announced it as that. I believe it is indeed a 1-year-loan that could turn into an additional year, but only if Chelsea, Andreas & Gladbach agree. Thankfully, it seems Chelsea will not agree to such terms.
STAT: Andreas Christensen: Has completed at least 197 more passes (1250) than any other teenager in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season
