Plymouth manager explains why he signed Chelsea's Jordan Houghton
Houghton trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Thursday morning and will be part of the squad for the away game against promotion rivals Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
Houghton has not played for Chelsea's senior side but he did have a loan spell at League One outfit Gillingham earlier this season. He made 14 starts among 15 appearances for Gillingham and scored one goal.
Plymouth manager, Derek Adamsn, told Herald Sport: "We were looking for a central midfield player that had a wee bit of experience but was also young as well and wanted to improve himself.
"He has had game-time at Gillingham this season. He played 15 times with them. He's a right-sided central midfield player who is good on the ball, can score goals and create chances. He has got good energy and can tackle. He's somebody we have been looking at for a wee while now."
Adams added it had been 'very straightforward' to deal with Chelsea and to arrange for Houghton to come to Home Park.
