John Swift is a young academy midfielder out on loan this season and he's enjoying playing regular football away from Stamford Bridge.
Swift extended his loan spell with Brentford until the end of the season and he's been speaking with ChelseaTV about his experience.
"Ever since I've come here, I've been fitted into the team really well. I'm getting a lot of game time at the moment as well, its been great. Everyones been welcoming. All the staff, all the back room staff, all the players as well. Its been good. We try to keep the ball down, play from the back, be creative in the final third. That's what I'm trying to do at the moment and I'm trying to work on it on the training pitch. I've played over 20 games & I'm hoping to get on the score sheet a little more than I am and I'm looking to get more assist. I've got room to improve."
The midfielder has played 23 times in the Championship for Brentford since October. Recording 6 goals.
“I'm doing my best, trying in a new position and I'm starting to get the defensive role. I'm trying to get my confidence back and it's a big boost for myself and the team today.”
Swift is adapting to his role on the wing, given he grew up playing in the middle of the pitch and he thinks he has suitably adapted.
He added: “At Chelsea, every time I went back I'd play in centre midfield. I've always liked to run with the ball and I think that's why I've been playing on the left and right in previous loans. It's been hard to adapt and I think I'm getting there.”
